Sumis are back in town! Sumi Ink CLub reconvened this afternoon out our SiteLA headquarters.

we played a pair of amazing shows with our friend tom, who does this thing called javelin. sweet soul and gender-less computer crooning, dance-only numbers, and a spinning pyramid of boom-boxes. tom’s also started doing his own interpretation of lucky dragons’ “complement song”… something special that i need to tell you… check it out here:

haley is our friend in providence, we helped her start this gallery called “stairwell gallery” (it was originally in the stairwell of the building we lived in… now it is in a beautiful storefront). i can’t say enough here about the kind economy of this gallery–for three years it has been a crucial and sustaining place for an amazing community. check the gallery website to see what happens there!

anyways, stuff is crazy right now in terms of money, and the gallery is kind of in need of a boost. so! there is this amazing benefit show on saturday may 31st, at the market hotel in brooklyn: usaisamonster, animental, mudboy, bernard hermann, lucky dragons, larkin grimm, dre skull, and others.

then on sunday, come out to a silent art auction at mountain fold gallery, featuring work by stairwell artists (including brian chippendale, jungil hong, raphael lyon, carly ptak, our very own sumi ink club, and millions more!

Sumi Ink Club visited the workshop of musician and Kalimba-maker, George Langford (of the band Javelin), at Building 16 in Providence, Rhode Island. Together we graced the top of this grand-piano style kalimba that George built. Looking forward to future sumi-javelin collaborations:
